Wenbo Fung is a contemporary classical saxophonist. He currently working on his Doctor degree as a Teaching Fellow at University of North Texas. He is also a Adjunct Professor in Mountain View College. 2
Wenbo has been chosen as a First Place Winner (College Students and Professional Musicians Category) of the American Protégé International Woodwinds & Brass Competition 2019.
Wenbo would give a Recital at Carnegie Hall, New York. December 15th at 1pm.
Wenbo was admitted by Xinghai Conservatory of Music with excellent grades in 2007. During his four years’ study in Xinghai onservatory of Music, Wenbo obtained “Outstanding Student” and “First Prize for Scholarship” every semester. Also in 2011, Wenbo was admitted by Graduate College of Music, University of North Texas with merit-based scholarship. In 2014, Wenbo went to North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference in University of Illinoi at Urbana-Champagne, and gave two performances at the conference, one of them is his own compose—Windtalker. Later in June, Wenbo was invited by Weilong Xi, Dean of Orchestra Instrument Department in Xinghai Conservatory of Music, to be a guest performer for The First FeiFan Cup International Band competition in Shenzhen, Guangdong. In July 2014, Wenbo had a recital in Altira Macau, sponsored by Altira Macau Hotle. In January 2015, Wenbo went to US Navy Band Saxophone Symposium and gave two performances, which are all his own composition. In March 2015, He went to Dallas Area Spring Festival representing University of North Texas, performing Canon, which is his arrangement. In Fall 2018, Wenbo was been invited as a guest saxophonist to University of Houston, and give a recital feature all Asian’s composers work. Wenbo was been invited as a guest artist for the music festival at Southwestern Adventist University. He would give a masterclass, concert and would play with the saxophone ensemble in Meyerson Symphony Concert Hall at February 9th.
In March 2020, Wenbo will attend the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. And give a solo recital feature Chick Corea and himself.
